Alice Electric Aircraft - Aviation is a major contributor to greenhouse gas emissions. In the United States, commercial aviation produces about 805 million tons of carbon dioxide annually, which is about 2% of all US emissions and 3.5% of global aviation emissions. The environmental impact of air traffic is a pressing issue due to the lack of technology. based solutions for aircraft engine emissions, and the demand for flying is only growing.

Electric aircraft face a different problem than ground electric vehicles - their size. Heavier and larger electric motors mean they cannot simply be replaced by fossil fuel models, as weight and speed are essential components of aviation efficiency. Plus, there's practicality to consider—you certainly can't buy a battery-powered airplane without making room for people or cargo.

While this may seem like an unattainable dream, there are companies aiming to bring electric airplanes to market. And not only that, but they want to make them valuable for everyday use! One such company is Eviation, and we've been covering its progress since 2017. The company recently proved that its design can fly and survive in the real world — not just on paper or as a simulation. If you want to know more about this amazing development, I recommend reading the article by Tina's colleagues.

Eviation's All Electric Plane Shows Off Luxurious Interior Ahead Of Maiden Flight

A recent press release from Aviation had some exciting news about another sale of the Elise electric plane, but first let's take a look at the long road the company has traveled to get here.

According to the company's CEO, the average hourly cost of operating a business jet is $3,000, but an electric plane can cut that by 90%. Also, because an electric airplane is 92-95% more efficient than any petroleum equivalent and is necessary. to meet the same restrictions Weight on landing. Although it may sound complicated, all modern airplanes are designed to take off and land with exactly the same weight in an emergency. So "weight loss" in flight will not be a big challenge. designers.

The company said it will be possible to fly with a 400Wh/kg battery. They also said that the batteries produced today have enough energy density to work flawlessly. For Ellis, the 900 kWh battery pack accounts for 65% of the aircraft's weight. The total power of electric motors is 3 x 260 kW. This allows Alice to use an altitude of 30,000 feet (9,144 m) and a landing speed of 100 knots.

In June 2019, Eviation unveiled its electric aircraft in Paris and reportedly secured Cape Air as its first customer. By 2021, the company had completed the planning process and was preparing for launch; However, an unscheduled delay pushed back the original 2021 launch date.

Eviation's Alice All Electric Aircraft Achieves First Flight

Last year, Eviation landed DHL as a customer, and together they plan to build the world's first electric air cargo network. Twelve Alice aircraft will be used in DHL's operations in the United States, with more aircraft expected to join the fleet in 2024. These zero-emission cargo planes are part of DHL Express' commitment to sustainability.

But those first customers arrived before the plane went on a test flight. This happened late last month with a flight up to 3,500 feet. You can learn more about this flight and get links to all of the above in my recent article on Eviation's Alice here.

A few days ago, the company announced that Germany-based EVIA AERO signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) for 25 Alice electric passenger aircraft. The airline plans to use Alice as the main aircraft for sustainable regional point-to-point travel in Germany, Denmark, Belgium, Austria and the Netherlands.

"As an early adopter of electric air travel and sustainable technology, EVIA AERO shares Eviation's commitment to social responsibility," said Loic Cousteau, EMEA Sales Director of Eviation. "Eviation's Alice promises to change air travel across Europe. Not only green and clean, but also elegantly designed and providing a smoother and quieter flight experience, Alice will offer EVIA AERO passengers a new way to fly."

Eviation's All Electric Alice Aircraft Makes Its Maiden Flight

EVIA AERO is a new market entrant focused on developing the electric aviation ecosystem. This includes the generation of electricity to support flight operations through regional photovoltaic power plants connected to a power system designed for widespread deployment of electric aircraft. The aim is to make air travel more scalable, sustainable and economically viable with less damage to infrastructure and an impactful carbon footprint to support the renewal of less traveled routes.

"Together with Eviation, the pioneer of electric flight, we will introduce a fleet of zero-emission aircraft that will change the way we experience regional travel in Europe," said Florian Kruse, founder and CEO of EVIA AERO. "We are very committed to holistically transform the aviation industry by implementing a cycle of local energy generation, storage and flight operations.

I wrote about this in a previous article, but I think it's worth mentioning again, because the latest quote from the head of EVIA AERO proves what I said. Alice brings a big change to air travel, allowing passengers to pay less than buying multiple tickets on a large plane. This opens up options for people to choose smaller planes instead of sharing a plane with people who may not be reaching the same destination.

The first and most valuable benefit of flying with your family on a private jet for the price of a commercial flight is that it will be much more comfortable and less invasive. Instead of being treated like animals or terrorist bait, you could be treated like a passenger in a limousine. Or at least it will feel something closer to an Uber ride once you get on board.

Eviation Says Cape Air Will Take 75 Alice Aircraft, Details Scarce

The use of these aircraft will not only make flights to small towns and rural areas more common, but also better for the environment. As fewer air miles are used to get people where they need or want to go, it will start to see flights on routes that the major airlines don't even serve. That's exactly what EVIA intends to do, so maybe I was right.

There are a number of other benefits, including the environment, but if going greener is the most palatable choice for travelers, it will eventually become a no-brainer. I hope the major airlines realize this instead of going to Washington and other governments for help again.

Alice, The First All Electric Passenger Airplane, Takes Flight

Eviation's out-of-this-world all-electric plane Alice was unveiled this week as it underwent engine tests ahead of its maiden flight. According to the manufacturer, "the world's first all-electric passenger plane" may take to the skies after just a few more days of testing.

Ellis was spotted this week at Arlington Municipal Airport (KAWO), north of Seattle, Washington, doing engine tests in preparation for upcoming high-speed taxi tests. Aviation photographer Jeremy Dwyer-Lindgren of JDL Multimedia took some great photos of Alice in preparation for the ground trials.

On Monday, while the company remained reluctant to commit to a date for the first flight, it said it was only "five to six test days [good weather] before the flight starts". in accordance with

However, the tests failed. The website reported that the plane's second engine refused to start during a test this week, causing the first engine to shut down.
