From its inception in 1927 to the end of 2009, Piper produced 144,000 aircraft of 160 different models, and about 90,000 of them are still flying. Throughout much of the 20th century, Piper was considered, along with Beechcraft and Cessna, one of the 'Big Three' aircraft manufacturers. A large number of pilots have learned to fly with Piper airplanes, and it is difficult to find anyone who has been in aviation who has not heard of the company.

In 1927 when it was founded, the company was known as the Taylor Aircraft Manufacturing Company, after its original owners, Clarence and Gordon Taylor. However, after Gordon's death the following year, Clarence was persuaded by businessman William Piper to move to Pennsylvania. After the stock market crash of 1929, William Piper bought the company. He sold many of the highly successful Piper Cubs, an airplane designed by Taylor. Some of these early Cubs are being flown today.

In the 1940s, Piper dominated the general aviation market, and the company took over aircraft production for the coming war. After its completion, the space plane was a huge success, and in 1954 Piper continued to build single-engine aircraft and introduced their first twin-engine, the Piper Apache.

A new facility was opened in Florida in 1960 to manufacture the Piper Cherokee, which would soon be produced in many different versions and become popular around the world. The company went on to produce other famous brands such as Cheyenne, Navajo, and Comanche.

In 1970 William Piper died, leaving behind a very successful aviation company. Since then, man has changed many times. But on balance, the company did well until the recession of 2007, when it was not seen to survive. Then in 2009, it was bought by the Brunei government, and since then, Piper has gone backwards. In 2018, the company announced an order for more than 150 aircraft, and in 2019 placed an order for 240 new Piper Archers and Seminoles.

Looking to the future, it looks like Piper will continue to be a very successful company, staying true to William Piper's original vision for simple and practical airplanes. As for the general aviation industry, they will continue to be very popular.

However, it is almost impossible to make a complete list of every type of aircraft produced by the company, and even if it was tried, it would be confusing, since many of them are very similar. So here is a list, in no particular order, of early Piper Aircraft models, most of which are still in use today.

These types can be divided into single-engine airplanes, twin-engine airplanes, and airplanes - although it must be said that Piper produced very few airplanes. In fact, by and large, they focused on single-engine aircraft and still do today. Most of their aircraft are for training and personal use, although now they are focused on the business market.

Let's take a closer look at Piper's aircraft selection, covering each of these three categories.

Let's take a closer look at some of these models as examples of the single Piper jets available.

The Piper J3 Cub was Piper's most popular airplane, with 20,000 built between 1938 and 1947. It was typical for Piper, which produced single-wing airplanes below, a high-wing airplane.

It is for two people and is designed for student training and as an aircraft carrier. Like many airplanes of the time, it was a 'tail', meaning it had a tail wheel instead of a nose wheel. Its popularity continued, and it gradually gained cult status. Many countries are flying today, and their owners are talking a lot.

The 'Tommie' is one of Piper's most popular single-engine aircraft, especially among student pilots. Many people learned to fly in this two-seater aircraft, which was considered a trainer from its inception in 1978 until the last aircraft was built in 1982.

Many people are learning to fly the Tomahawk today. Of course, I was one of the many years ago, who learned to fly this plane, and like many others I love this plane. 2484 of them were built, and many are flying today, sometimes privately, and by flying schools.

The Comanche was designed and manufactured by Piper Aircraft in 1958 and was produced from 1957 to 1972.  Unlike many of Piper's smaller aircraft, it had an attractive cabin and could seat six. Canada. In other words, it is faster and more flexible than any of Piper's smaller engine planes. Not to be confused with the similarly named Piper Twin Comanche, which, as you might expect, is a plane with two engines.

The Mirage and its latest generation, the M500, are single-engine turboprop aircraft. Although sometimes used by private pilots, these six-seater planes were designed for business use, and represent Piper's attempt to attract commercial aircraft.

Unlike its competitors, Piper produced twin-engined airplanes and continued to do so, although many in the aviation industry criticized the twin-piston airplane as being unsafe, especially after engine failure. But the Piper twins were popular, and this continues.

The Twin Comanche is not to be confused with the single engine Piper Comanche, although it was developed from it and therefore has many similarities. Piper built about 2150 of these between 1963 and 1972, and they are very popular among pilots who are qualified to fly twin-engined airplanes and love Piper airplanes.

This is one of the few twin-engine airplanes built by Piper to date. In fact, it is a second development of the Piper Cherokee and was originally used for training in public works. The Seminole was built from 1979 to 1982, again from 1989 to 1990, and is in production from 1995 to the present day.
